Andres delivers Spain their maiden FIFA World Cup

It was around 2.15am when I witnessed a footballing history happening. Its very rare my father is awake at that point of time just to watch a football match. But this football match which created history and sent every Spanish into ecstasy had made my father and me to be awake and watch.
It was 116th minute of the playing time when Andres Iniesta hit a sublime kick to send Spain 1-0 up against the miserly Dutch. And he removed the shirt , not caring the yellow card he would get for that, and started running. Its typical of him to run like that. I had seen him run the same way when he had struck a goal in similar fashion against Chelsea in 2009 to send Barcelona into Champions League Finals. I felt he is the No 1 Matador of Spain who has pummelled the Dutch bulls to submission.
All said about Spanish victory the final itself was a very dull match. It was full of fouls and cards. Referee whistles was heard more often than the irritating sound of the 'vuvuzuelas'( the nasty blow horns in the stadium ). Spain deserved to win. They were better alround. The only problem they had to counter was the threat of the 'Glass Man'Arjen Robben which they did to some extent ( by hook or crook ).
It took extra time for Spain to settle the issue. I started watching World Cup football from France 98. I rate 2006 World Cup as the best I have seen among the four.
The end of FIFA 2010 WC means the start of Transfer Market in Europe. Its filled with speculations and gossips. Lot of questions will be answered in coming 2 months. Will Fabregas move to Barcelona ? Will Torres leave Liverpool ? Whom will AC Milan and Juventus buy to restore their lost pride ? How will Jose Mourinho restructure his new club Real Madrid's squad? It just can't better in the Soccer World.

Its South America not Europe in all quarters of FIFA 2010 WC

World cup has completed the prequarters round and all quarterfinal fixtures are decided. Now the world cup looks very very interesting.

Most notable thing is it was expected that European teams would be there in all quarterfinals, but its not to be. 4 South American teams have made it to the Quarters.

Uruguay, Paraguay, Brazil and Argentina. With the exception of Paraguay , South American teams look to flock the Semi-final slots.

Spain defeated Portugal which is a very good thing for the World Cup. Spain bring a lot of style in their play. Portugal play like Tortoises. They defend heavily and attack on the counter.

Spain faces Paraguay next and it should be a comfortable passage for the Spanish Armada.

I fancy Uruguay will beat Ghana. Uruguay strikers, Forlan and Suarez, are the most wanted in Europe Market.

Argentina vs Germany and Brazil vs Netherlands are the real stunning matches we can wait to see for. Germany and Argentina are quick and punish mistakes ruthlessly. Argentina is blessed with a string of forward players and Germany looks like a team on its high.

Brazil and Dutch are saying the same way of football but Brazil have the edge with Kaka, Robinho in their best form. Brazilian Goalkeeper is the best in the world currently.

My prediction for Semis :

Argentina vs Spain , Brazil vs Uruguay

Three Lions blown apart by German Blitzkrieg

Yesterday England football team was comprehensively defeated by the Germans. Germans were very much focused and worked harder than the English. England was too soft to fight with the Germans.

Germans outdid England physically and tactically. The German formation was very good, they defended well and attacked superbly. Bad luck was also with England as their efforts were either saved, hit the bar or referee would not allow them.

It was a sad ending for players like Gerrard, Lampard, Terry who will not be in next world cup probably. Rooney did not play well. He was the one who could have disturbed the German defense.

Germany are young side and they are very fast. Now they face Argentina in their quarterfinal encounter. Last world cup also the two teams had met and Germany had come out victorious on penalties.

This time Maradona will be sensing revenge. It will be a ‘Clash of the Titans’.

For me, now I am a neutral spectator. No more support any side. But I wish Spain to reach quarterfinals at least so that attractive football stays in the World Cup for long time.
